Update Ozobot Ari: Enable Bluetooth, No WiFi Required

How to Update Ozobot Ari: Step-by-Step Guide to Enable Bluetooth (BLE) Connection — No WiFi Required

Many schools face strict WiFi restrictions that can make connecting classroom technology difficult. With the latest Ozobot Ari update, educators can now connect Ari directly to the Editor using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), eliminating the need for WiFi.

This step-by-step guide will walk you through how to update your Ozobot Ari robot so you can unlock this new functionality, update your apps, and access the latest learning experiences available for Ari.

1. Open this link using Chrome web browser.

2. Connect your Ari to your device via USB cable then select ‘Continue’.

3. Select Ari from pop up menu and hit ‘connect’

4. Once Ari is connected, select ‘Allow’ on its screen. You may need to scroll down to see the full text.

5. Read the update process summary and select ‘Update’ to proceed. Please note, the update will take place in two steps. If you are updating more than one Ari robot, you can disconnect your robot from the USB cable once the file upload is complete and start the process with your next Ari robot.

6. Your Ari will begin uploading the update file with the screen below.

7. Once the initial upload is complete, you can disconnect Ari from your device and the upload will start installing itself on Ari. If you are updating multiple Ari robots, you can repeat steps 2 through 7 on each Ari.

8. You will see the percentage of completion of the update on Ari’s screen. After the update has completed, press ‘Reboot’.

9. After Ari has rebooted you have installed the first part of the update. Now repeat steps 2 through 8 on every Ari to install the second part of the update. The web update tool will know when to install the first and second update package, so the process will be the same for the first and second part of the update.

After Ari has rebooted the second time, you are now ready to use your Ari via BLE connection, no WiFi needed! For instructions on connecting Ari to the Ozobot Editor over BLE, see this page.
