Fall is a great time to refresh your lesson plans with hands-on, engaging activities that bring STEAM learning to life. Below, our team shares their top fall lesson picks, perfect for sparking creativity and critical thinking in students of all ages.

Lesson: Orientation with Ozobot
When I was in the classroom, one of my favorite hacks was to create a Classroom Welcome Committee in anticipation of new students joining our class throughout the year. I trained a few students to give tours, share middle school survival tips, and model how to ask questions with compassion. That is why I love Orientation with Ozobot. It mirrors that same spirit by having students guide a new teammate through their “first day” using multiple Color Codes. The lesson blends social-emotional learning with an advanced, authentic application of coding for middle schoolers.

Lesson: Run Turkey, Run!
This is one of my favorite fall lessons because it blends festive fun with meaningful math practice. Students love the story of helping their Ozobot Turkey escape, and they get fully engaged in solving addition and subtraction problems as part of the game. I especially like how the Point Counter Color Codes push them to think strategically by sequencing their code in a way that keeps the turkey safe and their points above zero. It’s the perfect mix of seasonal excitement, hands-on coding, and problem-solving.

Lesson: Zombie Apocalypse
Who doesn’t love zombies? This lesson is a student favorite, thanks to the spooky theme and fun 3D zombie cutouts that bring the activity to life. It’s also a great introductory lesson, using only basic Color Codes like right, left, and straight at intersections, perfect for Ozobot beginners across upper elementary grades.

Lesson: Late for School
Late for School is a back-to-school classic. Students navigate their Ozobot through different routes, adjust speeds, and even write stories about their morning commute. It’s a great way to get students thinking critically about sequences, while building storytelling and coding skills.

Lesson: Ozobot Trick or Treat
Halloween is such a fun holiday and you can’t beat the range of sweet and savory treats the season brings. This lesson is a favorite because it allows students to plan their trick-or-treating path while also using math to decipher how much candy they’ll collect along the way. It encourages problem-solving and critical thinking, and you can’t forget the fun costumes for Evo!

Lesson: All About Apples
Fall is apple harvesting time! This lesson is a perfect introduction to Ozobot Blockly coding. In All About Apples, students are challenged to collect as many apples as possible using any combination of code blocks. Whether they zigzag, spin, or navigate through mazes, it’s an open-ended, playful way to practice programming and creative thinking.

Paige Labrador, Senior Marketing Manager
Lesson: Code to Touchdown
With football season kicking off, I chose this lesson because students can program their Ozobot to run from one end zone using Ozobot Editor. They’ll use a randomization code to determine how far their bot travels forward. Whether or not they score a touchdown, students will have fun picking Evo’s costume and running different plays!

Lesson: Graveyard Party
I love the Graveyard Party lesson because I’m a big fan of Halloween and a good spooky party. It’s such a fun way for younger students to practice their coding skills while guiding Ozobot through a graveyard adventure. The seasonal theme makes coding extra engaging and memorable!

Lesson: Halloween Riddle
Combining math with mystery, Halloween Riddle has students use multiplication to uncover clues for programming their bot in Ozobot Blockly. Once their code is set, they’ll watch as their bot reveals the answer to a spooky seasonal riddle. It’s a fun way to connect computational thinking with curriculum standards.
